Gage County Arrest Records
Arrests occur when Gage County law enforcement officers have probable cause to believe a person has committed a crime. Depending on the circumstances and the severity of the alleged offense, the officer can make an arrest with or without a warrant. Once arrested, individuals are usually taken to the Gage County Detention Center (GCDC), where they are processed and held until bail is posted, a court appearance is scheduled, or they are released by other legal means. The Gage County Sheriff's Office is the custodian of arrest records. These records are public and are available online and in person at the office during business hours. Arrest records are often linked to other official public documents, such as jail rosters, booking logs, and Gage County Court Records, which track the legal proceedings that follow an arrest.
Are Arrest Records Public in Gage County?
Yes. The Nebraska Public Records Act authorizes the inspection and copying of arrest records by members of the public. This makes the Gage County Sheriff's Office publish its arrest information online. Only arrest records considered confidential will be available to the public. Examples of non-public arrest records are criminal intelligence or investigative, dismissed arrest records, and arrest records that reveal the identity of an alleged victim of sex trafficking or sexual assault (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 84-712.05 and 29-3523).
What Do Public Arrest Records Contain?
The Gage County Detention Center (GCDC) provides public access to information about jail inmates. This information includes the arrested person's name, mugshot, charges, booking date, and county of commitment.
